Re: Minister RisnShortall Criticises Parents Who Allow Children Drink at Home.
In response to Minister Roisin Shorthall's article in today's (Jan 18th) Irish Times, National Parents Council(post primary), wishes to state that it does not advocate the introduction of alcohol to children. It does however feel that the education of your young adults towards alcohol needs to be introduced and fostered in a safe and caring environment. We need to change the current attitude to alcohol in this country, and learn that alcohol, consumed in moderation, can be enjoyed.
In no way do we condone binge drinking, or drinking to excess in any form. We do feel however, like all things in life, values and respect for any entity will stand in good stead as you go through life.
